Today marks a bittersweet day for Cork’d as we announce it will wind down operations. After 1.5 years, CEO, Lindsay Ronga will move on to other opportunities. “Working with Gary and Jon marked a milestone in my career and I am so thankful for the opportunity. Who knows… at some point we may all reconnect in the future,” says Lindsay.
Chairman, Gary Vaynerchuk, explains in this sincere video the details of what Cork’d users can expect. Cork’d Senior Editor, Jon Troutman will continue working in the wine industry with Gary in other capacities, so keep your eyes peeled. To all of our users, thank you for supporting us and interacting with us. We have truly enjoyed this experience and learning the wine world right along with you.
  • You completed various fine issues there. I did a seek at the topic and
found a good quantity of people will consent along with your site
  • I will still look at the site but probably not as much as I would have had it not gone the way of the Dodo. Good luck
  • Excellent site, keep up the good work my colleagues would love this..
  • :(  Well this sucks!!!  I've been a member for quite sometime and NOW I'm seeing this???  I cannot even get into my information!!  :(  This was such a great site!  I hate to see it go!
  • California is known for there healthy wine product. And I hope, according to this research we'll know good wine product.
  • thanks for seeing this for the multi-faceted problem that it is, Ian.
Your concrete suggestions are excellent and I'll leverage them in the
    future for sure.
  • When one door closes... best of luck to everyone and thanks for all of your hard work. Enjoyed my time here.
  • Thanks for sharing that I'm not the only one that faces this dilemma.
  • Thanks for the kind words, Lindsay. You raise a good point about the
level of differentiation in a bottle of wine as a product. It *is* a
    commodity.
  • Wow and I just joined up. Hope you all the best in your future
endeavors. I will still look at the site but probably not as much as I
would have had it not gone the way of the Dodo. Good luck and uncork
    some good ones.
  • This is really interesting, You're a very skilled blogger. Also, I have shared your site in my social networks!,Regards,
  • Thanks for seeing this for the multi-faceted problem that it is, Ian.
Your concrete suggestions are excellent and I'll leverage them in the
    future for sure.

    Cheers!
  • Thanks for the comment! I think it's smart not to worry about small
differences in prices when you're working with a retailer you're
confident/comfortable in, and it's cool that you're close to Wine
Library. I've never been though I'd like to visit some day.
  • Nice to make your acquaintance, and thanks for your balanced perspective
on this. I particularly liked your point about not snarling at people
who don't buy things on that given occasion. That's never a good idea
    for anybody.
  • I disagree, Eric. By Bob's own admission, the retailer and distributor
tasted him through 20 high end pricey wines. That isn't a regular
tasting. They invested time, effort and money in him in the hopes of him
making that purchase through them. He chose not to and I don't agree
    with that approach at all.
  • Speaking of good for the palate, one thing I do like about buying wine
locally, for sure, is the ability to return corked bottles. Online
retailers handle that in various ways but none are as easy as taking
    back a barely-consumed bottle for an exchange/refund.

    Something to consider for sure.
  • I'm intrigued by your point about it being easier to shop Wine Library.
Pretty amazing that you live in Napa and it's easier to shop from a
    retailer in New Jersey. Wow.
  • Thanks for sharing your perspectives on this- I appreciate it. I agree
with a lot of what you've shared here, and would just like to point that
in this specific instance the situation is more complicated than what
I've shared here in the story. I fully expect it's more complicated
than what I'm even aware of, but my aim in sharing this piece was to
encourage debate on the general subject of supporting local retailers
    vs. price shopping online.
  • I live in Napa, so I'm close to a whole bunch of wineries and wine
shops. Unfortunately for them, I do a majority of my wine shopping at
Wine Library. WL is cheaper and easier.
  • Thanks for sharing that I'm not the only one that faces this dilemma.
  • Thanks for your balanced comments! Thanks for seeing both sides of the
issue. I appreciate the local wine culture very much and realize it
wouldn't be as good a place to be a wine enthusiast without supporting
    local retailers.
  • Had it not been for that local retailer, you would never have even found
this wine you love. I always try and buy local even if it means paying
extra. If we fall into the Sam's club/ Walmart trap we'll never discover
    the hidden gems.
  • Good indeed. I don't want to miss this opportunity. Thanks for such information.
  • I just discovered your web blog and also wished to declare that we
currently have definitely enjoyed browsing this page. Continue the
    superb job.

  • Very poor closing. Totally doesn't make any sense to just close the site without asking for help from the community first. I can't imagine how many missed opportunities there will now be for folks like Gary because, lets face it, you had a built in community right here to increase exposure, sell and recommend products, and otherwise keep growing a following. This just seems like a big FU to the community.
  • Its such a big pitty corkd closed. Wouldnt it make sense to give it to the community, how much are the hosting costs to get it life - i would like to support it!
  • This is a very big pitty.
